The WARE Living Room Rabbit Home comes with built-in casters, which makes moving this cage when you have to clean it a much easier task. This cage also comes with a food bowl, which is nice since you won’t have to purchase one separately if you get this cage. The ramp will allow your rabbit to hop up on the shelf so they can rest and relax, or they can use it to get a nice view of their surroundings.

You & Me Living The Dream Small Animal Habitat

You & Me Living The Dream Small Animal Habitat

The You & Me Living The Dream Small Animal Habitat (Buy Online) is an affordable indoor rabbit cage that offers an ample amount of space. This cage has an internal living area of just about 5 square feet. With that much floor space, this cage is large enough to comfortably house one adult rabbit, or it can be used as a temporary cage for two bunnies until they are placed in separate cages.

The You & Me Living The Dream Small Animal Habitat comes with casters built into the litter pan, which makes moving this lightweight cage a breeze. The casters are only supported by plastic though, so there could be durability issues on uneven terrain.

This cage also comes with an adjustable plastic shelf and a plastic ramp. The shelf will make a great place for your rabbit to rest and look around at whats going on outside of their cage.

One notable thing about this cage is that the litter pan doesn’t come with a wire mesh grate. This could be a good thing since some people think wire floors can hurt a rabbit’s feet. While other people might prefer the ease of maintenance and the sanitary living conditions a wire mesh floor provides.

Kaytee Rabbit Home Plus

The Kaytee Rabbit Home Plus (Buy Online) is a large indoor rabbit cage that is easy to assemble and maintain. This cage has a total internal living space of 8 square feet, which makes it the perfect size rabbit cage for keeping two rabbits.

The one thing you will notice if you get this cage is how small the box is that it comes in. The compact packaging is due to the two-piece litter tray that splits in half for easy storage and transport when the cage is not in use. Once you open the box, all you will need to do in order to assemble the cage is snap and lock the two pieces of the litter pan together, and then simply attach the wire portion of the cage.

The litter pan also has built-in mounting holes for optional casters which will make this large indoor cage much easier to move. You also get a good sized food dish with this cage which is a nice added bonus. Along with that, you will also get two large plastic shelves and two wavy metal ramps.

The wavy design of the ramps will make it easy for your rabbits to hop up onto any one of the two included shelves, and once they get up there they can lay down and take a nap or check out what’s going on outside of their cage. This cage also allows for easy access to your rabbits since there are two easy access doors on both the top and side of the cage.

YML Indoor Blue Rabbit Cage With Stand

The extra large litter pan that comes with this cage is also another nice feature since it can hold a deep litter bed, and it will also help keep any water bottle leaks from escaping the cage. This cage also has one large front door and a smaller top door, so you will always have a way to get easy access into the cage.

Trixie Natura XL Two Story Rabbit Hutch with Outdoor Run

The Trixie Natura XL Two Story Rabbit Hutch with Outdoor Run (Buy Online) is the perfect rabbit hutch for giant rabbits and standard rabbits alike. This hutch is a 2 story rabbit hutch with 17.6 square feet of living space on each level.

This hutch is built to last since it is made of weather resistant glazed pinewood. It also has strong chew proof bars that are tightly spaced, so you won’t have to worry about your rabbits trying to escape. There are also 7 easy access doors on this hutch, so you will always be able to reach your rabbits no matter where they may be.

The wire mesh openings in the front of the cage also have ventilated plexiglass covers which will help protect your rabbits from the wind and rain.

Rabbit Housing Requirements

Rabbit Housing Requirements

If you want a more detailed answer to the question of how much space does a rabbit need in its cage, you will need to take your rabbits size into consideration. In order to get a good estimate of a rabbit’s overall size, you will have to weigh them.

Once you weigh your rabbit then you can either use the rabbit cage calculator located above, or you can use the rabbit cage size guide below to find out how large your rabbit cage will need to be. The following chart is derived from the Animal Welfare Act (Title 7, Chapter 54, Section 2131-2159).

Of course, the sizes recommended above are just the minimum cage size you will need to safely and humanely house a rabbit. Keeping a rabbit in a cage this size is perfectly acceptable if you have limited space, just make sure you let your rabbit out of their cage every day in order to stretch their legs.

If you don’t have much room to spare inside your house, then a hutch is a much better option. If you plan on getting a hutch then the minimum recommended RSPCA rabbit hutch size for 2 to 3 rabbits is 9 to 10 square feet.
