On day one, I applied the ointment 4 times throughout the day, cleaning around the eye area each time. Day 2, I only applied 3 times because I didn't want to stress her out. We're on day three and the improvement is huge. She's already feeling much better and the cut is healing nicely; no more puss, discharge, or bleeding. If you want to save yourself a trip to the vet, I'd give this ointment a try for a few days. It's a pretty broad spectrum antibiotic so it really is worth a shot if your animal is dealing with an eye infection. (**I am not a professional or a veterinarian but I do have enough experience with my animals where I am confident in my abilities to care for them. I would urge you to do your own research and determine for yourself if you need to seek veterinary care for your animal**)
Some tips I found when using this product:
-It does not state how many days it should be used for but it is an antibiotic so, I would say a week should do. If you don't see improvement then you should probably take your animal to a veterinarian.
-Apply with a new q-tip each time so you don't contaminate the cap or the opening of the tube.
-You probably shouldn't use this on multiple animals to avoid possibly spreading infections.
-Clean the eye as much as possible before applying any product. Use a q-tip, or a cotton pad soaked in water, to gently remove any discharge from the eye area. If it's not completely clean that's okay, animals can be difficult to handle but do your best.
-Gently apply a layer of the product with a q-tip, being sure to not rub it in; pretend you're icing a cake.
-If you need to apply IN the eye, gently apply a small amount onto the lower eye lid and gently rub your animal's eye to distribute the product.
- Most importantly be patient and gentle. Sick or injured animals can be difficult to treat so take your time.

I noticed her being grumpy one day and looked at her eye, and it was crusty, no wonder she was grumpy. After some gentle cleaning, I noticed irritation. Knowing my vet couldn't see her for a couple weeks, I ordered this ointment. My best tip with this is always wipe it clean and cap it right away, because it'll keep dispensing if you don't!
What I do to administer it to a giant bunny is I get the bunny in a puppy pen and throw a blanket over her and sit behind her. They always back up at first, so I close off that route by sitting behind her. I apply the ointment quickly and then drop a few treats on the floor to avoid her hating the experience. The blanket seems to mute her ability to jump up and hit herself on the applicator, and takes the fight out of her (20lbs is a lot of rabbit, okay?). After doing this for a week, her eyes are so clear and look amazing. It also seems to lubricate her eyes and make them feel better nearly instantly. I will be keeping this in the first aid kit, because exotics always get sick on holidays and weekends. She'd normally bite me if she really hated it, so I would say my giant rabbit rates this 10 out of 10 fingers still attached.
After a few months of my dog's eyes not clearing up, I finally forked out some $$$ and went to a pet ophthalmologist. He told me that she had zero tear production. He suspected pancreatitis or hyperthyroidism. This all happened last year. Once our little girl went blind her quality of life was terrible! She is no longer with us.
If your pet's eyes aren't clearing up and you can't take them to a specialist, please try some lubricating drops!
