The Ruffwear Aira Rain Jacket is a full coverage, waterproof, versatile rain jacket built for the trail. Waterproof, windproof, and breathable fabric extends adventures during inclement weather, keeping dogs protected from the elements. Our non-insulated design allows for use in warm climates and can be worn over insulating layers for cold climates. Coverage over the shoulders, hips, and hindquarters maximizes protection and minimizes wet, muddy dog cleanup. Leg loops provide a secure fit in windy conditions. Integrated leash portal allows leash attachment when worn over our Front Range or Web Master Harnesses (sold separately). Autolock buckles on each side secure the jacket during activity and provide easy on/off. The Aira Rain Jacket is available in 6 sizes. Select the correct size based on your dog's girth (measurement around the widest part of the rib cage). XX-Small: 13-17 inches (33-43 cm); X-Small: 17-22 inches (43-56cm); Small: 22-27 inches (56-69 cm); Medium: 27-32 inches (69-81 cm); Large: 32-36 inches (81-91 cm); X-Large: 36-42 inches (91-107 cm). For in between sizes, choose the larger coat for more coverage. Washing Instructions: Secure the fasteners; Wash with cold water and mild detergent on gentle cycle; Hang dry. Do NOT bleach, iron, or dry clean.

We bought this Ruffwear rain/wind jacket for our 45 pound Aussie, Petunia. This is our 4th Ruffwear product and we keep coming back for their durable, quality-made products. The sizing is true to size for Petunia, as with all her Ruffwear jackets, backpack and PFD, she wears a medium. This jacket is easy to put on, has sufficient coverage, keeps her warm/dry, is comfortable to wear and best of all it stays in place even in high winds. This jacket has great seasonal versatility: waterproof for torrential rain as well as windbreaker for winter snow squall (windchill -14F). The reflective piping makes her highly visible in the dark, which is a nice safety feature on our nightly excursions on our trails. When Petunia sees us pull out her Ruffwear jacket she knows she's going on an adventure with us! :)

My dog Papillon is very small and only barely big enough for the XX-Small which is the smallest size this jacket comes in. I was really worried that it was going to be too big but it's ok. So relieved! I have the buckles moved in all the way as far as they'll go. I'll have to cut some of the excess straps off so they don't hang down and get peed on. The jacket reaches all the way down his back just a little past the base of his tail but not so much that he is unable to curl his Papillon tail up over his back so it's ok. And the loops for the hind legs keep it in place. He measures: girth 12" and topline 11". I particularly wanted this jacket because it has buckles instead of velcro fasteners that catch on my dogs fur and make him yelp while pulling them off. Also I did not want a jacket with a hood; it won't go over my dog's big ears. So it's a very nicely designed jacket and gives good coverage for the rain.
My only complaint is that Ruffwear seems to make gear more for big outdoor hiking and hunting dogs rather than little lapdogs like my guy. All their harnesses, collars and leashes are much too big and heavy for my dog which is fine. What I don't understand is why they make clothing for big dogs. It's the little ones that get cold and need jackets. The label on this jacket has a box to write in "Trail Name." Right. How about "Urban Hiker Name." My dog doesn't even like grass; he prefers walking on the sidewalk. How about a line of clothes for the little guys who pee on fire hydrants and curb trees and greet their sidewalk buddies with joyful sniffies.

We love this rain coat. Our hound is muscular and very shorthaired, so she needs a coat that fits and is waterproof, and also durable. It could be a little larger across her chest, but fits perfectly in length and the adjustable straps allow for a good fit under her belly. It would probably also fit a male dog well, as it is well-designed. I like that it has a port to attach a leash to the Ruffwear Front Range harness so I can use the harness under the coat. It seems very well-made and was obviously carefully designed, as it does the job better than many other rain coats I have seen. Also, the fabric dries quickly so it is ready for our next walk in the rain.
