Product Description
The AquaClear Powerhead 70 is a multifunctional pump that delivers outstanding performance in a variety of applications. It can efficiently drive under-gravel filters, circulate and aerate aquarium water, and attach to filtration accessories such as the AquaClear Quick Filter to support crystal clear water conditions. The Powerhead 70 can be used to raise oxygen levels, which is important when there are increases in water temperature or fish population, as well as during the treatment of diseases. It can also be connected to drive protein skimmers, which are essential devices for most marine aquariums. The Powerhead is indispensable in smaller reef aquariums where it can be easily hidden and still provide highly beneficial currents. Freshwater aquariums also benefit from additional currents in many applications. In addition to being the ultimate submersible pump in its category, the Powerhead also includes the following design, safety and utility innovations: a compact, energy-efficient, and completely submersible motor unit that is insulated in epoxy resin to protect against harsh fresh and salt water environments; adjustable flow control; convenient suction cups for easy installation; and an output hose adapter that allows easy attachments to protein skimmers, spray bars, and other accessories. Using a Powerhead in combination with an AquaClear Quick Filter provides additional safe mechanical filtration for cleaner water conditions and the protection of baby fish.

I had to replace an old one not because it quit but because of a loud impeller. A new impeller was only 12 bux less and no 1 year warranty.
The noise is like it's not even turned on now. I got the old one from my brother that had it for year's with another one on top of under gravel filter riser tubes. I took that out and use it.for current and o2 and added their plastic cage/tube style filters joined together to help polish the water.
So glad I have a new one and I'm certain the fish are glad its quiet too.
Next, the unit began to intermittently stop, requiring me to “coax” it back to life by jiggling and eventually tapping the unit until it kicked back on. Why? Eventually, it ceased completely. Further inspection revealed a faulty impeller. After several futile attempts to locate a new impeller, rapidly clouding tank water encouraged me to make a business decision. I ordered a second unit while my inner voice begged the question: am I throwing good money after bad?
Turns out- my inner voice was right! Second unit arrived and upon plug in I was disappointed immediately. The Venturi valve NEVER operated. The flow from the powerhead was a mere trickle when it actually worked, which was even less intermittently than its dud predecessor.
So as of today I am $100 lighter, own two defective units, and have foul tank water.
I have included a video of the current unit in its current state of (non) operation. The only thing flowing is my money out of my wallet!
Unless you’re a glutton for punishment like me, my recommendation: DO NOT BUY!
